Medical Technologist – Core Lab – Day Shift

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Medical Technologist to work in the Core Laboratory on the day shift. The role involves receiving and preparing specimens, performing laboratory tests, and ensuring accurate results for patient diagnosis and treatment. This position follows standard protocols, maintains equipment, and upholds patient confidentiality.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized laboratory testing independently within established time frames.
• Conduct quality control, instrument maintenance, and troubleshooting, documenting corrective actions as needed.
• Adhere to regulatory compliance, accreditation standards, and safety guidelines.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and manage supply and reagent inventory.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or a related scientific field.
• Current Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license or trainee permit (must obtain Generalist license within 90 days of hire).
• ASCP, AMT, or AAB generalist certification required within 90 days of hire.
