Medical Director – Urgent Care Physician

About the role

Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible physician to serve as Medical Director for three rapidly growing urgent care clinics in Northern Louisiana. The role combines clinical practice (approximately 50%) with leadership of advanced practice providers and overall clinic operations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of three urgent care sites, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient workflow.
• Provide direct clinical services while supervising advanced practice providers (APPs).
• Lead recruitment, performance assessment, compensation, and feedback processes for staff.
• Facilitate interdepartmental collaboration, conflict resolution, and strategic project planning.

Required profile

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in a relevant medical specialty.
• Demonstrated leadership identity with accountability for team performance.
• Ability to communicate clearly, handle difficult conversations, and manage physician performance issues.
