Med Tech Lab Section Head

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction in Palm Beach County, is hiring a Med Tech Lab Section Head. The Section Head maintains technical quality for the assigned laboratory section and meets all accreditation and licensing requirements for the section.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain technical quality for the assigned section and meet accreditation and licensing requirements (JC, AABB, CAP, CLIA and State of Florida)
• Supervise the technical skills of staff working in the section
• Perform and interpret diagnostic procedures in the assigned laboratory area
• Maintain quality control, preventive maintenance and patient records
• Assist in orienting new employees, teach students in the technical area and complete technical competencies for team members
• Stay current in technical knowledge and instrument use, and may be required to cross-train to other job descriptions

Required profile

• Licensed as a medical technologist in the state of Florida
• Five years of clinical laboratory experience
• Education: AA/AS or BS preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a stressful environment

Required skills

• ASCP or equivalent certification preferred
• Ability to correlate test results with patient treatment and learn multiple instruments and software
• Microsoft Office skills
• Knowledge of Joint Commission, College of American Pathology and/or AABB accreditation standards
• Knowledge of federal and state regulations on clinical laboratories
