Mechanical Technician – Gearbox and Shaft Repair

About the role

The Mechanical Technician supports the Operations Department by repairing, rebuilding, inspecting and assembling gearboxes, main shafts and related rotating equipment in a heavy‑industrial shop environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate forklifts and cranes safely while handling large components up to 75 lb.
• Disassemble, clean, inspect, measure and record gear drives and main shafts according to repair procedure documents.
• Perform visual inspections, identify abnormal wear and arrange components for further processing such as nondestructive testing.
• Recycle unusable parts and assemble inspected components following documented guidelines.
• Maintain 5S standards, keep workstations and tools clean, and adhere to safety, quality (ISO) and EHS requirements.
• Participate in production scheduling, timing studies and continuous‑improvement activities.

Required profile

• Mechanical background with high school diploma or equivalent; experience in gear‑related work is a plus.
• Positive attitude, good communication skills and willingness to be trained and certified for forklift and crane operation.
• Ability to work in a noisy, oily, and physically demanding shop, lifting up to 75 lb and standing for long periods.
