Mechanical Engineer – Air Vehicles

About the role

The Air Dominance and Strike Mechanical Engineering Team designs and integrates advanced hardware for Group 5 air vehicles and missile platforms, covering the full development lifecycle from concept to flight test.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and integrate hardware on unmanned air vehicles, owning designs from concept to production.
• Lead design reviews, perform analyses, visit vendors, define and execute hardware test plans, and build prototypes.
• Analyze failures, transition successful projects into production, and support critical hardware demonstrations.
• Travel to test sites as required.

Required profile

• 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience with advanced air vehicle programs.
• Experience integrating electrical and mechanical subsystems and designing mechanical parts using CAD.
• Understanding of manufacturing methods such as machining, sheet metal, composites, 3D printing, injection molding, and lamination.
• BS or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering and eligible for a U.S. Secret clearance.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD tools.
• Experience with NX and Teamcenter.
• Competence in engineering analysis (structural, thermal, electrical).
• Strong use of first‑principles physics in design decisions.
