Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographer

About the role

The Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographer provides advanced obstetric ultrasound services under the supervision of a perinatologist. This position supports high‑risk pregnancy assessments, detailed fetal anatomical surveys, and specialized Doppler studies to aid diagnosis and management of complex maternal‑fetal conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform transabdominal and transvaginal scans, including detailed fetal anatomy, biophysical profiles, dating exams, and cervical length measurements.
• Conduct Doppler studies of the umbilical artery and middle cerebral artery and generate quality diagnostic images.
• Verify physician orders, use Epic and Viewpoint systems, and ensure accurate documentation and image transmission.
• Maintain equipment, exam rooms, and inventory; assist with departmental operations and quality control procedures.

Required profile

• Completion of a CAHEA‑approved diagnostic medical sonography program.
• ARDMS certification in OB/GYN within one year of hire.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to work a flexible schedule.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ultrasound/sonography equipment and protocols.
• Experience with Doppler studies and fetal imaging techniques.
• Computer literacy, including use of Epic, Viewpoint, and web‑based applications.
