MAT Assessor Therapist – Clinical Mental Health Services

About the role

The MAT Assessor Therapist provides specialty mental health services to infants, young children, and families in office, home, and school settings. Reporting to the Clinical Supervisor, the role supports children involved with DCFS and contributes to trauma‑informed care.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 24 billable hours per week of mental health services, including assessments, therapy, and crisis management.
• Conduct age‑appropriate assessments using tools such as ASQ and CANS, and complete MAT Summary of Findings reports.
• Document all services in the EXYM electronic health record in compliance with California and Los Angeles County DMH regulations.
• Participate in Child and Family Team processes, intensive care coordination, and multidisciplinary meetings.
• Travel to client homes and schools within Service Areas 2, 8, and/or Santa Clarita as needed.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, or Counseling.
• Current registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (APCC, ASW, or AMFT).
• Valid California driver’s license and reliable HIPAA‑compliant transportation.
• At least 1 year of experience working with children and families, especially ages birth to five.
• Knowledge of L.A. County Department of Mental Health system and MAT‑based services.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the EXYM electronic health record system.
• Ability to conduct clinical assessments and develop treatment plans.
• Experience with evidence‑based trauma treatments (e.g., TF‑CBT, MAP, CPP, PCIT, Triple P, Seeking Safety).
