Manager III – Field Service Engineer

About the role

The Manager III, Field Service Engineer leads the delivery of service and support for Applied Materials equipment in the Albany region. This role builds and maintains strong customer relationships, drives service performance, and oversees a team of engineers and technicians to ensure equipment uptime and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with customers across the district, conducting regular visits and ensuring satisfaction with service and system performance.
• Escalate system downtimes following established procedures to achieve the fastest possible return to service and meet guaranteed uptime targets.
• Interview, hire, train, and supervise customer engineers and technicians, managing salary and career planning for the team.
• Forecast financial, manpower, and operational needs for start‑ups, warranty, service agreements, and paid service, and pursue new service agreement business.
• Manage start‑up projects, local inventories, and RMA processes while ensuring safety practices are followed.

Required profile

• Proven ability to lead and coach professional contributors, set objectives, conduct performance appraisals, and address corrective actions.
• Strong communication skills to convey business progress, set goals, and drive employee satisfaction.
• Experience in financial and operational forecasting for service‑related businesses.
• Willingness to travel up to 25 % of the time to customer sites.
