Maintenance Mechanic

About the role

Saputo is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to keep its dairy processing plant running smoothly. You will work hands‑on with a wide range of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical equipment, ensuring reliability and safety while supporting production goals.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, and related process equipment.
• Service hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including flow‑control components.
• Troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) – inputs, outputs, and nomenclature.
• Maintain and replace instrumentation such as level sensors, RTDs, proximity sensors and photo‑eyes.
• Use the CMMS to process work orders, perform preventive maintenance and manage inventory.
• Operate forklifts and aerial platforms safely.
• Perform welding (wire‑feed, stick, TIG), metal cutting, machining (mill, lathe) and stainless‑steel polishing to 3A standards.
• Conduct electrical troubleshooting, replace fuses, relays, transformers and wiring, and read electrical schematics.
• Start, stop, adjust and service the ammonia refrigeration system and related equipment.
• Repair HVAC, door, plumbing, steam and boiler systems, and perform weekend/holiday rotations as needed.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with mechanical and electrical maintenance in an industrial environment.
• Ability to read technical manuals, safety rules and maintenance procedures.
• Willingness to work weekends and holidays to meet plant demands.
• Commitment to keeping the work area clean and organized.
