Field Service Engineer – Semiconductor Manufacturing (Military Transition)

About the role
Applied Materials is seeking transitioning military technicians to join its Field Service Engineer team. In this role you will work directly inside customer factories, installing, maintaining, and repairing advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment. You will use digital analytics and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot complex electro‑mechanical systems while ensuring high customer satisfaction.
Key responsibilities
- Install, integrate, and commission multi‑million‑dollar wafer fabrication systems.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems.
- Utilize oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, and advanced software diagnostics to resolve technical issues.
- Communicate clearly with customers to coordinate service activities and provide status updates.
- Travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time, including on‑call and overtime assignments.
Required profile
- Experience in Electronics Technology, Mechatronics Technology, or Microelectronics.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally and work flexible shifts, overtime, and on‑call schedules.
- Ability to work safely in confined spaces and handle mechanical, electrical, or chemical hazards.
Required skills
- Proficiency with oscilloscopes and digital multimeters.
- Experience using advanced software diagnostic tools.
- Hands‑on ability with hand tools, meters, and scopes for electro‑mechanical troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas delivery systems.
