FIB Lab Operations Manager

About the role

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials engineering, designing and servicing equipment for semiconductor and display manufacturing. The FIB Lab Operations Manager will lead a team of engineers and technicians to develop and execute advanced focused ion beam (FIB) methods for a range of semiconductor applications.

Key responsibilities

• Manage FIB engineers and technicians, creating new FIB methods for logic, memory, power and other semiconductor devices.
• Lead metrology engineering initiatives, applying advanced characterization expertise and ensuring project outcomes align with Applied Materials’ problem‑solving methodology.
• Oversee lab operations, track key metrics, implement workflow improvements and drive efficiency.
• Develop and integrate new analytical instrumentation, maintain hands‑on tool engagement, and establish training programs for complex sample analysis.
• Interact with customers and business‑unit partners to resolve complex metrology issues and manage escalations across shifts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
• 7–10 years of experience in semiconductor characterization, FIB techniques, or metrology engineering.
• Demonstrated leadership of technical teams and ability to drive process improvements.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to communicate technical information to diverse stakeholders.
