Machinist – Precision Manufacturing

About the role

Join 3M’s innovative manufacturing team as a Machinist, working with a diverse group of engineers and technicians worldwide. You will operate a wide range of machine tools to produce high‑precision components that meet strict engineering specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate various machine tools including boring bars, drills, grinders, lathes, milling machines, CNC/NC/MDI equipment, presses and saws.
• Fabricate, fit and assemble parts from metallic and non‑metallic materials to required tolerances.
• Interpret engineering drawings, assembly prints and vendor diagrams to ensure accurate production.
• Apply safe work methods to prevent personal injury, co‑worker injury and property damage.

Required profile

• Must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Associate degree or technical diploma in Machine Tool Technology (completed before start date).
• Three years of experience operating basic machining equipment (turning, milling, welding).
• Additional experience with CNC, Siemens, Fanuc, Mitsubishi or Mazatrol controls is preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CNC, NC and MDI machine tools.
• Experience using Siemens, Fanuc, Mitsubishi and Mazatrol control systems.
• Knowledge of NX CAD software (5+ years preferred).
• Ability to read and work to engineering specifications and tolerances.
