About the role

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will provide direct patient care, including IV therapy, on the Acute Medical Stepdown Unit at Ochsner Health. Working under the direction of a registered nurse, the LPN will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality, personalized care.

Key responsibilities

Deliver direct patient care using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, and evaluation.
Administer IV therapy and other treatments as authorized by the RN.
Coordinate and delegate tasks to ancillary nursing staff.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members to ensure a positive patient experience.

Required profile

High school diploma or equivalent.
Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of practice.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

IV therapy competency.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Valid LPN licensure.
