About the role

The Licensed Practical Nurse provides direct patient care, including IV therapy, in a medical/surgical post‑operative unit at Ochsner Baptist. Working under the direction of a registered nurse, the LPN collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality, personalized care.

Key responsibilities

Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
Deliver comprehensive care addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs of patients.
Communicate professionally with patients, families, and team members to ensure a positive experience.
Adapt quickly to changing unit demands and support ancillary nursing staff.

Required profile

High school diploma or equivalent; no prior experience required.
Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of practice.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Preferred: IV therapy credentials.

Required skills

IV therapy administration.
Basic Life Support (BLS) proficiency.
