Legal & Government Operations Officer

About the role

Our client, a venture‑backed climate‑tech company, is looking for a Legal & Government Operations Officer to partner with the General Counsel. The role ensures smooth legal workflows, coordinates outside counsel, and drives regulatory and government‑relations initiatives while supporting the company’s mission to decarbonize the physical world.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate legal workstreams across internal teams and outside counsel.
• Serve as first‑line triage for inbound legal matters and maintain request‑tracking systems.
• Track timelines, dependencies, and deliverables for legal initiatives and maintain dashboards.
• Manage export‑control compliance, including ITAR and EAR licensing and reporting.
• Interface with engineering, business development, and trade counsel on regulatory obligations.
• Maintain entity records, subsidiary documentation, and support board governance processes.
• Assist with government‑relations, policy briefings, lobbying compliance, and bill tracking.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree required; Paralegal certification or JD preferred.
• 4–8 years of experience in legal operations, paralegal work, program management, or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to manage legal workflows and coordinate outside counsel.
• Familiarity with ITAR, EAR, and export‑control compliance.
• Experience supporting government affairs or lobbying efforts is a plus.
• Ability to travel to Washington, D.C. up to 25% of the time.
