Legal Fellow

About the role

Beyond Petrochemicals is seeking a full‑time Legal Fellow for a one‑year, exempt fellowship. The role supports the organization’s mission to halt petrochemical expansion and protect public health through legal research, drafting, and strategic support.

Key responsibilities

• Develop relationships with partner groups and provide legal support, including research and document drafting.
• Collaborate with Communications and Campaign teams to deliver rapid legal assistance when needed.
• Assist the Legal Director with capacity‑building, strategy development, and responding to partner requests.
• Participate in meetings with external partners and local stakeholders to advance the team’s objectives.
• Conduct legal research and present findings through briefings, memos, and presentations.

Required profile

• Demonstrated interest in environmental law, public health, or civil rights.
• Strong interpersonal, time‑management, and cross‑cultural awareness.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑moving, mission‑driven environment.
• Experience (paid or volunteer) that builds relevant legal competencies.
