Lead Manufacturing Technology System Specialist

About the role

3M is seeking a Lead Manufacturing Technology System Specialist to strengthen the security, reliability, and scalability of its manufacturing technology environments. You will design secure OT architectures, engineer resilient infrastructure, and create standardized industrial software solutions that support critical production systems worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement secure OT architectures, including network segmentation, defense‑in‑depth controls, and secure remote access.
• Engineer resilient OT infrastructure covering compute, virtualization, networking, backup, redundancy, power protection, and recovery.
• Develop standardized industrial software frameworks, reusable templates, libraries, and naming conventions for consistent deployment across sites.
• Evaluate IoT and IIoT components such as embedded devices, controllers, gateways, firmware, communication protocols, authentication, encryption, and update mechanisms.
• Translate cybersecurity, engineering, and regulatory requirements into executable designs, validation methods, and remediation strategies.
• Mentor technical teams and help establish standards that improve consistency, reliability, and long‑term sustainability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
• Professional Engineering or advanced technical credentials (e.g., Professional Engineer).
