Lead EHV Transmission Line Engineer (69kV‑765kV)

About the role

Lead the design of high‑voltage transmission lines ranging from 69 kV to 765 kV, act as the subject‑matter specialist for 500 kV and 765 kV systems, and mentor less‑experienced engineers. The position coordinates design activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and client requirements while preparing clear technical reports and conducting independent reviews.

Key responsibilities

• Develop conceptual and detailed designs, scopes of work, and design basis for transmission lines up to 765 kV.
• Prepare calculations, drawings, and PLS‑CADD models, and perform independent reviews of team deliverables.
• Collaborate with clients to define requirements and ensure installation and operation meet standards.
• Mentor and train junior design staff and ensure adherence to Sargent & Lundy’s System of Processes.

Required profile

• BS in Electrical Engineering (ABET‑accredited) with at least 12 years of transmission design experience.
• Minimum 3 years designing 500 kV and/or 765 kV transmission lines.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English (read, speak, write).
• Experience preparing scopes, conceptual designs, equipment selection, and client interaction for 69 kV‑765 kV projects.

Required skills

• Proficiency with PLS‑CADD software.
• Knowledge of engineering standards: NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE, ANSI.
• Familiarity with ArcGIS for spatial analysis (preferred).
