Lead Camera Engineer

About the role

You will own the full camera system of a next‑generation wearable, from sensor selection and optical design through image processing, multi‑camera capture and streaming. The role reports to the Head of Hardware and works closely with EE, firmware, product design and reliability leads, as well as external module suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end camera system: sensor selection, optical design, capture pipeline, image processing, multi‑camera architecture, calibration and image quality.
• Drive part selection and benchmarking across image sensors, lenses and module suppliers, including second‑source planning.
• Specify electrical and mechanical interfaces and partner with EE, firmware and product design teams for integration.
• Validate field‑of‑view, blind spots and seam overlap; define calibration and stitching path for panoramic and computer‑vision use cases.
• Set image‑quality standards (exposure, white balance, low‑light, dynamic range, motion) and test methodology for scaling.
• Partner with reliability lead on component‑level durability and lifetime.
• Ship the product by year‑end and help grow the camera engineering team.

Required profile

• 10+ years of camera engineering experience with at least one shipped consumer product.
• Deep expertise in image sensor architectures, sensor interfaces (parallel and high‑speed serial) and image‑processing pipelines.
• Hands‑on optical design experience for compact consumer products.
• Experience working with overseas camera module suppliers and driving DfM, calibration and volume quality.
