Laboratory Services Worker – Residential Construction and Carpentry

About the role

This part‑time, non‑benefited position supports the Residential Construction and Carpentry program at the Georgia State Government. Working under close supervision, you will ensure safe lab practices, manage tools and materials, and assist students and faculty in a hands‑on learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct lab activities, enforce safety protocols, demonstrate tasks, prepare labs, help grade projects and maintain documentation (45%).
• Maintain equipment and supplies, including ordering, stocking, and organizing the tool room (20%).
• Keep labs and storage areas neat and orderly (10%).
• Assist with grading course material (10%).
• Demonstrate high effort, trustworthiness, and responsible behavior (10%).
• Perform other duties delegated by the Program Director (5%).

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED (minimum).
• 1‑2 years experience as a carpentry instructional aide (preferred).
• Professional appearance and strong interpersonal skills with faculty, colleagues, and students.
• Initiative and a willingness to learn.
• Post‑secondary education in a related field is a plus.
