Program Director – Carpentry & Residential Construction

About the role

The State of Georgia seeks a Program Director to lead its Carpentry and Residential Construction program. This full‑time, benefited position combines curriculum design, instruction, student recruitment, and program administration within the Engineering Construction Manufacturing and Design Division.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop curriculum and course materials for carpentry and residential construction.
• Teach at least 15 credit hours per quarter, including day and evening classes.
• Recruit, advise, and mentor students, evaluating their progress toward program goals.
• Prepare and manage program budgets, request supplies, and maintain certification requirements.
• Supervise adjunct faculty and coordinate with college committees and professional development activities.
• Ensure safety and security standards in training areas.

Required profile

• Technical Diploma, AAT/AS/AAS, or equivalent trade school qualification with at least 10 years of field experience.
• Minimum two years of experience beyond CAR/CAB/Residential Construction education.
• Five years of full‑time paid work in carpentry or residential construction (preferred).
• Three years of college‑level teaching experience in a two‑year or technical college (preferred).
• Experience in curriculum development, adult‑learner instruction, and use of advanced instructional technologies.
• Strong written and oral communication, collaboration with faculty, staff, and community.
