K-5 Classroom Teacher

About the role

The Roger Bacon Academy seeks enthusiastic teachers for grades K‑5 at Classical Charter Schools of Wilmington. You will join a supportive team that includes a Beginning Teacher Coordinator and Academic Coaches.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver Direct Instruction lessons in reading, writing, math, science, music and art, following the provided curriculum and pacing guides.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly classroom environment and manage student behavior during all activities.
• Assess student work honestly, record progress data, and provide tutoring or additional support as needed.
• Communicate regularly with parents about academic progress and involve them when appropriate.
• Supervise teacher assistants, attend staff meetings, and fulfill administrative duties such as drop‑off/pick‑up monitoring.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education and a valid North Carolina teaching certificate for the applicable grade level (or eligibility for lateral entry).
• Ability to work on your feet all day, lift up to 20 lb, and circulate throughout the classroom.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and collaborate with Academic Coaches.
