About the role

The State of Georgia seeks a dedicated Juvenile Probation Parole Specialist II to provide social services and supervision for juvenile offenders in custody or on probation. This position supports rehabilitation plans, monitors compliance, and collaborates with courts and treatment providers.

Key responsibilities

• Interview probationers and parolees regularly to assess progress toward rehabilitation goals.
• Recommend remedial or court action for non‑compliance with probation or parole terms.
• Administer drug and alcohol testing, including random screens, to verify treatment program compliance.
• Maintain comprehensive case files for each assigned offender.
• Discuss the impact of substance abuse and anger management on criminal behavior.
• Conduct pre‑hearing investigations, testify in court, and recommend sentencing conditions.
• Inform offenders of conditional release requirements such as office visits, restitution, education, and employment stipulations.
• Write progress reports, investigate legal issues, and arrange medical, mental health, or substance‑abuse treatment as ordered.
• Supervise community‑based sentences, including electronic monitoring and field visits for curfew checks.

Required profile

• Associate degree in a related field plus two years of relevant human‑services experience, OR four years of direct case‑management experience with offenders, OR two years at the lower‑level Juvenile Probation/Parole Specialist I level.
• Ability to maintain required certifications and clearances as mandated by the State of Georgia.
