About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking an experienced attorney to serve as an Assistant Public Defender IV for the Northeastern Judicial Circuit in Hall County. This senior‑level position provides zealous representation to indigent clients facing serious felony charges in Superior Court.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, negotiate, and try criminal cases, including high‑profile felonies.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research and draft complex pleadings, motions, and orders.
• Develop case strategy, manage investigations, and handle all aspects of trial preparation.
• Advocate in courtroom settings, present evidence, and conduct jury trials.
• Maintain compliance with ethical standards and Georgia Bar requirements.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited institution.
• License to practice law in Georgia or eligibility to sit for the Georgia Bar within one year of hiring.
• At least three years of relevant legal experience, including substantial criminal litigation and jury trial work.
• Demonstrated commitment to indigent defense and strong professional judgment.
