About the role
The State of Georgia is seeking an Assistant Public Defender (Attorney 2) to represent indigent clients in Hall County. This entry‑level position provides courtroom representation, client counseling, and advocacy in Superior Court criminal matters.
Key responsibilities
- Provide zealous representation for indigent defendants in criminal cases.
- Develop and maintain trusting attorney‑client relationships.
- Explain legal rights, procedures, and investigative processes to clients.
- Conduct legal research, draft motions, and prepare case files of routine complexity.
- Collaborate with senior defenders and support staff as needed.
Required profile
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited institution.
- License to practice law in Georgia or eligibility to sit for the Georgia Bar within one year of hiring.
- At least one year of relevant legal experience or experience at the lower‑level Attorney 1 position.
