Journeyman Software Engineer

About the role

Amentum is recruiting a Journeyman Software Engineer for its US Marine Corps advance technology development team. You will write, optimize and fix code for a complex component of a weapon system in an R&D setting, working in integrated teams with government customers. Primary work is in Fredericksburg, VA or Dahlgren, VA, with occasional telecommute or travel.

Key responsibilities

• Create code and fix defects using an Agile process, following the software development life cycle and test cycle.
• Measure computer processing time usage and propose better ways to use disk space, network load and throughput.
• Design, code and maintain software support tools and models.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering or a related field with 3 years of experience, or a Master's in Computer Science/Engineering or EE with 2 years of experience.
• 2-4 years of experience (required).
• US citizenship required; no clearance needed to apply, but a SECRET clearance is required to start.
• Ability to commute to Fredericksburg or Dahlgren, VA.

Required skills

• Comprehensive knowledge of software requirements, design, code, benchmark testing, debugging, SDLC, architecture and documentation.
• Plans, performs and leads software design, coding and testing.
• C++ proficiency (2 years required) or C# (2 years required).
• Agile software development experience.
• Atlassian suite, Jira and Confluence.
• Git and Bitbucket for source code tracking.

• Salary of $90,000-$105,280 depending on experience and education.
