Journeyman Software Developer (SECRET Clearance)

About the role

Amentum is recruiting a Journeyman Software Developer for its US Marine Corps advance technology development team. The engineer works on a complex component of a weapon system, runs a test bench lab and ensures testing runs smoothly. The primary work location is Fredericksburg, VA or Dahlgren, VA, with occasional telecommute or travel. No clearance is needed to apply, but a SECRET clearance is required to start.

Key responsibilities

• Create code and fix defects using an Agile process for a complex component of the weapon system, following the software development life cycle and test cycle.
• Measure computer processing time usage and propose better methods for storage space utilization, network loading and process throughput for the DoD Program Office.
• Design, code and maintain software support tools, testing and models.
• Manage software requirements, design, code, benchmark testing, debugging, architecture and documentation.

Required profile

• US citizen; a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering or a related field with 3 years of experience, or a master's degree in one of those fields with 2 years of experience.
• Ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance within 2 months of starting.
• Preferred: 2 years of C++ or C# experience, Agile experience, Atlassian tool suites (Jira, Confluence) and source control tools (Git, Bitbucket).

What we offer

• Pay range of $90,000-$140,000, with a $2,000 starting bonus contingent on the earliest possible start date.
