Journeyman Software Developer (SECRET Clearance)

About the role

Amentum is recruiting a Journeyman Software Developer for its US Marine Corps advance technology development team. The engineer works on a complex component of a weapon system, runs a test bench lab and ensures testing runs smoothly. The primary work location is Fredericksburg, VA or Dahlgren, VA, with occasional telecommute or travel. No clearance is needed to apply, but a SECRET clearance is required to start, and US citizenship is required.

Key responsibilities

• Create code and fix defects using an Agile process for a complex component of the weapon system, following the software development life cycle and test cycle.
• Measure computer processing time usage and propose better methods for storage space utilization, network loading and process throughput for the DoD Program Office.
• Enable the design, coding and maintenance of software support tools, testing and models.
• Work with government customers in integrated teams and contribute to process improvements while staying hands-on in development.

Required profile

• US citizen with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering or a related field, and 3 years of experience; or a Master's degree in one of those fields with 2 years of experience.
• Ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance (no clearance required to apply).
• Two years of program/project-level experience in software design and development meeting sub-millisecond timing requirements.

Required skills

• Software requirements, design, code, benchmark testing, debugging, SDLC, architecture and documentation.
• Preferred: C++ or C# (2 years), Agile methodology, Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence), and source control tools (Git, Bitbucket).
