Journeyman Plumber – Facilities Management

About the role

Georgetown University’s Facilities Management team is seeking a skilled Plumber to maintain and service plumbing, heating, and hot‑water systems across its Washington, DC campuses. The role is full‑time, on‑site, and supports a safe, comfortable environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee standard plumbing, heating, and hot‑water systems, including low, medium and high‑pressure steam lines.
• Perform journeyman‑level maintenance, repairs, and emergency response in accordance with industry practices.
• Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance and unscheduled work such as overhauls, pump, valve, and piping replacements.
• Provide daily maintenance support to building users, responding to service calls and performing inspections.
• Manage survey projects and remain on‑call 24 hours for emergency situations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Four to five years of related plumbing trade experience, or equivalent training.
• Journeyman plumbing card and a valid operator’s license.
• Completion of an apprenticeship or comparable plumbing training.
• Ability to operate University commercial vehicles (10,000 lb GVWR) with a DOT medical card if required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with standard plumbing tools and safety regulations.
