Maintenance Mechanic I

About the role

Georgetown University is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic I to provide routine and semi‑skilled preventative maintenance and minor repairs across campus facilities. The role supports a safe, comfortable environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general building trades work, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, heating and ventilation systems.
• Execute routine preventative maintenance inspections and respond to service calls.
• Carry out minor repairs and unscheduled special work in accordance with industry standards.
• Use standard tools, equipment and supplies while adhering to all safety regulations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
• 4‑5 years of experience in general building maintenance with intermediate electrical, plumbing and HVAC/refrigeration skills.
• Completion of a training program covering electrical, HVAC/refrigeration and plumbing.
• Universal EPA‑CFC certification.
• Basic computer literacy with MS Windows.
• Valid driver’s license.
