Job Connection Interpreter (ASL) – Santa Ana

About the role

The Job Connection Interpreter provides interpreting services to support deaf and hard‑of‑hearing consumers in their job search and placement process. Working under a Placement Specialist, the role bridges communication between employers, placement coordinators, and clients at the designated America’s Job Center of California office in Santa Ana and in the community.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret for sensitivity awareness with existing and potential employers of deaf and hard‑of‑hearing consumers.
• Collaborate with the Placement Specialist to develop and place employment opportunities for GLAD Employment Services users.
• Identify both traditional and non‑traditional job resources to meet consumer needs.
• Provide direct communication support to placement coordinators at AJCC field offices.
• Perform additional tasks as delegated by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree and fluency in American Sign Language (ASL).
• ASL Interpreter Certification (EIPA Level 4+ or NIC from RID) or eligibility to obtain it.
• Knowledge of the Interpreter Code of Ethics and basic ADA principles.
• Ability to handle confidential information with the highest level of discretion.
• Strong punctuality, reliability, and professional conduct.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and up‑to‑date auto insurance for extensive travel.

Required skills
