IR Technologist – Full‑Time Evening Shift

About the role

Ochsner is seeking an Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist to join its evening team. The role supports interventional radiologists and nursing staff, preparing and scrubbing into procedures while adhering to radiation safety protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Verify physician orders and procedure details for accuracy.
• Utilize radiology information systems to facilitate patient care and documentation.
• Explain procedures to patients and ensure informed consent.
• Operate imaging equipment independently according to protocol.
• Review images for diagnostic quality before transmission.
• Perform timely quality‑control checks and address any regulatory issues.
• Assist with departmental operations such as inventory, scheduling, and equipment maintenance.
• Adapt communication style to meet the needs of diverse patient populations.

Required profile

• Proficient computer skills for data entry and retrieval.
• Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
• Familiarity with Windows‑style applications and role‑specific software.

Required skills

• ARRT registration (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists).
• License from the Louisiana State Radiology Technology Board of Examiners.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced certification in Vascular Interventional Radiology (preferred).
