Internship Coordinator

About the role

exaltyouth is seeking a mission‑focused, strategic individual to serve as the Internship Coordinator. In this full‑time position you will help court‑involved youth secure high‑quality internships, strengthen existing partnerships, and develop new opportunities across corporate, government, and nonprofit sectors in New York City.

Key responsibilities

• Prospect, negotiate, and secure new external partnerships that advance participants’ education, employability, and criminal‑justice avoidance.
• Leverage internal relationships with staff, board members, and supporters to expand the pool of internship sites.
• Maintain and deepen relationships with existing internship partners.
• Conduct outreach via phone, email, and in‑person visits to NYC businesses, agencies, and nonprofits to create innovative, transformative internship experiences.
• Provide program staff with active, eligible site lists and assist in placing 15‑20 core participants per cohort.
• Coordinate interview scheduling and placement logistics with teachers and program coordinators.
• Partner with the Alumni Department to place 1‑2 graduate interns per cycle in three‑month extended internships and support them throughout the experience.
• Capture all partnership, placement, interview, and intake data in Salesforce.
• Support special events, outreach, recruitment, and other business‑engagement tasks as needed.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Salesforce for data management.
• Experience in partnership development or outreach.
• Knowledge of internship program coordination.
