Inpatient Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant (Full‑Time)

About the role

This position works in a collaborative inpatient psychiatry team that includes psychiatrists, residents, psychologists, social workers, nurses and other staff. The role provides assessment, diagnosis, medication management and coordinated care for child and adolescent patients under the supervision of the Medical Director and other supervising physicians.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct initial consultations, obtain histories, perform mental‑health assessments and formulate diagnoses.
• Develop and implement treatment plans, including psychopharmacology prescribing and medication management.
• Document all patient encounters promptly in the electronic medical record system.
• Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment as needed, and coordinate care with multidisciplinary team members.
• Provide education to patients, families and staff about mental‑health conditions and treatment options.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited master's or doctorate program for Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners OR a Bachelor’s degree and graduation from an approved Physician Assistant program.
• Minimum 2 years of psychiatry experience with children/adolescents, preferably in an inpatient setting.
• Current state license, board certification (PMHNP for nurses) and DEA registration or eligibility.
• Current BCLS/ACLS certification and prescriptive authority as required by state regulations.

Required skills

• Proficient computer and data‑entry skills for EMR documentation.
• Experience with Windows‑style operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to use electronic medical records systems efficiently.
