Inpatient Psychiatrist – St. Charles Parish Hospital

About the role

We are seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrist to provide comprehensive mental health care for patients on a 15‑bed inpatient unit at St. Charles Parish Hospital in Luling, LA. The role involves evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management and continuity of care from admission through discharge.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct psychiatric evaluations, diagnose conditions, and develop individualized treatment plans for inpatient patients.
• Prescribe and manage medications, including innovative therapies such as ketamine.
• Lead therapeutic interventions and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of APPs, social workers, nurses, and other clinical staff.
• Coordinate care with the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Med/Psych Behavioral Health Unit.
• Maintain patient safety and high standards of care in a fast‑paced acute care environment.

Required profile

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
• Strong clinical judgment and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, acute care setting.
• Commitment to patient safety and high‑quality care.

Required skills

• EPIC electronic health record system proficiency.
• Ketamine treatment administration.
