Inclusion Assistant / Aide – Early Childhood (Washington County)

About the role

The Center for African Immigrants and Refugees (CAIRO) is seeking an Inclusion Assistant or Classroom Aide to support preschool classrooms at multiple elementary schools in Washington County. You will work closely with Lead and Assistant Teachers to create a safe, engaging, play‑based learning environment for children ages 3‑5.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Lead and Assistant Teachers with daily classroom operations, curriculum delivery, and student engagement.
• Provide support to children with diverse learning and support needs, ensuring inclusive practices.
• Step in as Assistant Teacher or Lead Teacher when needed, including covering absences.
• Maintain compliance with state and federal early‑learning regulations and health‑safety standards.
• Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and staff regarding child progress and concerns.

Required profile

• Minimum age 18; ORO Step 4 for Aide or Step 6 for Assistant.
• At least one year of verified experience in a certified childcare setting with children ages 3‑5.
• Documented hours as an Aide I/II (240 hrs) or qualifying teaching hours (750 hrs) for Assistant role.
• Food Handler Certification and Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
• Proficiency in English; bilingual ability in languages such as Somali, Arabic, Swahili, etc. is preferred.
