Hybrid OR Interventional Radiologic Specialist

About the role

The Hybrid OR Interventional Radiologic Specialist provides patient assessment, preparation, and scrubbing for complex interventional radiology, cardiology, and vascular procedures in a hybrid operating suite. The role includes radiation safety, mentorship of junior staff, and participation in on‑call rotations.

Key responsibilities

• Verify physician orders, explain procedures to patients, and ensure accurate documentation.
• Operate fixed imaging equipment (fluoroscopy, advanced vascular imaging) and manage specialized vascular supplies such as guidewires, catheters, stents, and grafts.
• Maintain sterile technique, perform quality control on images, and adhere to radiation safety protocols.
• Lead departmental programs, develop protocols, and support accreditation and quality initiatives.
• Mentor and train junior staff, provide feedback for performance evaluations, and cover supervisory duties when needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience in Interventional Radiology within a hybrid OR environment.
• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and licensed by the state Radiology Technology Board.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and advanced certification in Vascular Interventional Radiology.
• Ability to work on‑call shifts for emergency and after‑hours procedures.

Required skills

• Hybrid operating room experience integrating surgical and imaging technologies.
• Proficiency with fixed imaging systems (fluoroscopy, vascular imaging).
• Knowledge of vascular supply management, including guidewires, catheters, stents, and grafts.
• Strong sterile technique and infection control practices.
• Computer literacy with Windows applications and radiology information systems.
