Housing Inspector – Military Housing

About the role

Bureau Veritas is seeking a Housing Inspector to perform QA/QC inspections of military housing and other building systems across the United States. The role involves extensive travel to client sites, on‑site data collection via tablets, and detailed reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct on‑site inspections of electrical, mechanical, fire & life safety, structural and other building components.
• Collect and document inspection data using web‑based programs and tablets, including photographic evidence.
• Review construction plans, specifications and maintenance records for code compliance.
• Identify deficiencies, hazards or non‑conformities and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare comprehensive inspection reports with findings, photos and supporting documentation.
• Ensure adherence to local, state and federal codes (ASTM, NFPA, NEC, ICC, ASME) and military inspection protocols.
• Communicate results to property owners, contractors and stakeholders, and collaborate with engineers and architects.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; some college preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of related inspection experience.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• InterNACHI certification (must be obtained within the first week of employment).
• For mechanical focus: welding or pressure‑vessel inspection knowledge; NDT knowledge is a plus.
• For fire‑life‑safety focus: bachelor’s degree in fire science or related field preferred.
