Hotel Engineer III

About the role

The Ritz-Carlton in Palm Beach is hiring an Engineer III to handle guest repair requests and resolve maintenance issues with little to no supervision. The role also covers preventive maintenance, MEP troubleshooting and the Engineer on Duty duties.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to guest repair requests and communicate with guests to resolve maintenance issues
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, and visually inspect them
• Carry equipment, identify and operate shut-off valves, and maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts
• Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts through approved programs and standards
• Read blueprints and electrical schematics for plumbing and HVAC, and troubleshoot hotel MEP systems
• Perform complex repairs on electrical, plumbing, mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration and pool heaters, following company standards and local and national codes
• Use the Lockout/Tagout system before any maintenance work
• Train and mentor other engineers and perform Engineer on Duty readings and rounds
• Follow safety and security policies, complete safety training, and treat guests courteously

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and vocational or technical background
• At least 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds alone and to climb stairs, ramps and ladders

Required skills

• Advanced ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics
• Proficiency in at least three of: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation and building management
• Solid knowledge of hand and power tool use and of engineering computer programs for preventative maintenance and energy management
• CFC certification and compliance with applicable state and federal certification requirements
