Hospital Medicine Nocturnist (ACNP/PA)

About the role

Exceptional care starts with exceptional people. This position works in a collaborative model with residents, fellows, attendings and staff to provide hospital medicine care on the Medical Center floors. The Nocturnist operates under the supervision of the Medical Director and in partnership with nurses, discharge coordinators and primary care clinicians.

Key responsibilities

• Provide primary and urgent medical management, including emergency stabilization of critically ill patients.
• Teach and mentor residents, medical students and staff.
• Coordinate patient education, discharge planning and follow‑up care.
• Utilize approved medical practice processes and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Adapt communication and care approaches to diverse patient populations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Nursing (for NP) or Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant studies (for PA) and appropriate state licensure.
• Current BCLS and ACLS certification and eligibility for prescriptive authority.
• Preferred: up to 3 years related experience; none required.

Required skills

• Proficient computer data entry and Windows‑style applications.
• Knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
