Histology Technician - Per Diem Days

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction in Palm Beach County, is hiring a Histology Technician for per diem day shifts. The technician works alongside department leadership to support the needs of the department, with hands-on tissue processing and specimen handling.

Key responsibilities

• Embed, microtome and stain tissues of various types and sizes, including GI biopsies, FNA samples, breast cores, large surgical specimens and cell blocks
• Perform IHC and special stains (Dako/Agilent); experience with these preferred
• Assist physicians with bone marrow and renal biopsy collection
• Maintain specimen integrity and chain-of-custody documentation, and enter data accurately
• Operate and maintain histology equipment and keep quality control records
• Follow infection-control, hazardous waste and safety regulations, and protect patient confidentiality
• Serve as a resource for other departments and foster cooperation across the hospital

Required profile

• Associate of Science degree in Histotechnology
• Florida technician license; national certification required, ASCP preferred
• Detail-oriented, precise hand-eye coordination and dexterity
• Able to multitask, learn instrumentation and software, and work in a noisy environment with frequent interruptions
