About the role

The West Jefferson High School Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care within the school environment, ensuring the health, safety, and comfort of students. This full‑time position is part of Ochsner’s commitment to exceptional, compassionate care.

Key responsibilities

Administer nursing care and follow the nursing process for student health needs.
Assess learning needs and deliver health education tailored to students, families, and staff.
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local health regulations and school policies.
Document care, manage health records, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Required profile

Graduate of an accredited nursing program; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Current RN license in the state of practice.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

Proficiency with computers, software, and web‑based applications.
Effective verbal and written communication.
Organizational and time‑management abilities.
Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
