Health Information Management Representative (Remote)

About the role

UnitedHealth Group (Optum) is hiring a Health Information Management Representative for a national remote position supporting the Allina Health account. The role is full-time, Tuesday through Saturday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM CST, with flexibility to work any of the shift schedules during normal business hours; occasional overtime may be needed. Three weeks of paid training (Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM CST) is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Review electronic chart documentation for correct patient, location and no duplicate information
• Process release of information (ROI) requests and manage requests for documentation and information
• Scan and edit documents in the electronic medical record
• Locate, log, retrieve, file and deliver medical records stored in various mediums and systems
• Analyze documentation and track completion to meet regulatory requirements
• Promote principles of health information accuracy, transparency, currency, accessibility, relevancy and reliability
• May train and mentor co-workers
• Use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; other duties as assigned

Required profile

• High school diploma / GED or equivalent experience
• Age 18 or older
• 1+ year of customer service experience in a hospital or healthcare environment
• 1+ year of Health Information Management (HIM) or Release of Information (ROI) experience
• Ability to complete three weeks of training and to work the full-time Tuesday-Saturday schedule
• Preferred: RHIT or RHIA certification, 2+ years of customer service, EPIC experience, HIM experience, call center experience, knowledge of medical terminology
