Advanced Practice Provider (PRN) - PMHNP or Psych PA

About the role

Connections Wellness Group, a Blended Health company offering outpatient behavioral health services for adolescents and adults in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, is looking for a compassionate Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to provide psychiatric care in its Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). The APP can be a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or a Psychiatric Physician Assistant (Psych PA) and works in evening virtual group coverage from 5pm to 9pm, any day of the week, on an as-needed basis. Candidates must live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct psychiatric evaluations, including history taking, mental status exams and DSM diagnostic impressions, and develop individualized treatment plans
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitor efficacy and side effects, educate patients and document in the EHR
• Co-facilitate therapeutic groups (e.g. CBT, DBT-informed, process groups) and contribute to group curriculum
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, case managers and other team members, and attend treatment team meetings
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, follow ethical and legal standards, and take part in quality improvement
• Keep up with psychiatric best practices and maintain required licenses and certifications

Required profile

• PMHNP: master's or doctoral nursing degree, current unrestricted Texas PMHNP license, and ANCC board certification; or Psych PA: accredited program graduate, current unrestricted Texas license and NCCPA certification
• At least 1 year of psychiatric medication management experience
• Experience co-facilitating groups highly preferred; PHP/IOP experience a plus
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check; former patients must have left the program at least 2 years ago
