Head of Digital, Pharmaceutical Technical Development

About the role

Roche is creating a new organization, PT Digital and Operational Excellence (PTE), to deliver data analytics solutions to scientists across Pharma Technical Operations (PT). The Head of Digital, Pharmaceutical Technical Development (PTD) defines the digital strategy for the research side of PTD, leads a global team to architect and implement data and digital solutions, and sits on the PTD Leadership Team. The role reports to the Global Head of Digital Strategy and Value Realization.

Key responsibilities

• Define and champion the digital vision and strategy across the research side of PTD, and turn it into a roadmap and multi-year portfolio governance
• Serve as trusted advisor to functional and site leadership teams, influencing investment decisions toward high-value lean and digital initiatives
• Lead the executive communication strategy and present the roadmap to the Digital Innovation Board
• Diagnose complex business processes and value chains, then act as ultimate Product/Value Owner for digital initiatives, measuring impact rigorously
• Oversee the transition of digital products into sustainable operating models and build partnerships with external technology companies
• Sponsor change management and capability-building initiatives, and lead the global PTD digital communities
• Provide oversight for portfolio management, workforce strategy, data governance and collaboration with RDT, gRED and pRED

Required profile

• Proven executive leader with a demonstrated history of shaping enterprise-wide strategy
• 15+ years of progressive leadership and relevant industry experience, including 10+ years leading and scaling global teams
• Experience architecting and implementing digital transformations, preferably in the pharma industry
• Excellent knowledge of the pharma data ecosystem, informatics systems, tools and techniques, with a customer focus
• Advocate of the VACC executive model (Visionary, Architect, Coach, Catalyst)
