Group Lead - Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

The Group Lead for Manufacturing Engineering will oversee day‑to‑day engineering and problem‑solving within the Electric Rack Steering assembly area. You will manage a team to meet safety, quality, cost and delivery targets by reducing scrap, improving cycle time and driving other process improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Direct engineering work for manufacturing engineers supporting scrap reduction, cycle‑time reduction and overall process improvements.
• Support continuous‑improvement activities to enhance safety, quality and productivity.
• Plan budgets for line‑improvement projects, build business cases and control spending.
• Ensure equipment OEE, reject rates/FTT and scrap cost meet business targets.
• Coordinate engineering change processes for the ER value stream with design, quality and logistics teams.
• Foster a high‑performance culture within the engineering team.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing or a related industry.
• Strong management and leadership abilities.
• Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Analytical problem‑solver with experience in RedX or similar methodologies.

• Assembly process expertise.
• RedX methodology or other structured problem‑solving tools.
• Budget planning and business case development.
• Equipment OEE monitoring.
