Geospatial Analyst I

About the role

The Sustainability team at Enviva is looking for a motivated Geospatial Analyst I to support the accuracy and reliability of geospatial data across forestry operations and supplier traceability. Reporting to the Lead Geospatial Specialist, you will work on data editing, quality assurance, and the automation of routine GIS tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Review geospatial and tabular datasets for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with established standards.
• Identify, document, and communicate geometry, attribute, and data‑model issues using hosted feature services.
• Run and evaluate established geoprocessing tools, scripts, SQL queries, and QA/QC checks.
• Maintain authoritative operational datasets such as tracts, stands, and supplier information.
• Provide first‑line support for Field Maps and other operational GIS applications, escalating complex issues.
• Assist with supplier data intake, standardization, validation, and loading into GIS databases.
• Collaborate with Sustainability Analysts and operational teams to track and resolve data issues.
• Support the development of a geospatial error‑flagging system and contribute to workflow improvements.

Required profile

• Early‑career professional with a strong foundation in GIS and a keen eye for data quality.
• Ability to troubleshoot data inconsistencies and distinguish between source errors, user mistakes, and system flaws.
• Strong communication skills to document issues and work with cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GIS software and geoprocessing tools.
• Experience writing and executing SQL queries.
• Familiarity with scripting for automation (e.g., Python or similar).
• Knowledge of Field Maps or comparable operational GIS applications.
• Understanding of remote‑sensing data and its integration into GIS workflows.
