General Trades Craftsman – GRHS (Savannah, GA)

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a General Trades Craftsman (General Trades Tech 3) for its Engineering and Maintenance Department at the GRHS facility in Savannah. This full‑time, 1st‑shift position involves a variety of semi‑skilled and skilled building‑trade tasks to keep state buildings operating safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Install and maintain security, climate‑control, and other facility systems.
• Assemble, install, and repair electrical wiring, electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
• Diagnose and correct mechanical and structural problems using blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
• Perform preventive maintenance on plant equipment and building automation systems.
• Execute basic painting, carpentry, roofing, and general maintenance tasks.
• Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and drawings to determine work scope and resource needs.
• Handle hazardous materials in compliance with regulations and wear required safety equipment.

Required profile

• Must pass a national and state background check as required by law.
• Full‑time availability for a 40‑hour, day‑shift schedule.
• Experience in building‑trade work, preferably at a General Trades Tech 3 level.
