Maintenance Technician – Skilled Trades (DTAE)

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking two Maintenance Technicians to support campus facilities in Savannah. This field‑based position involves skilled and semi‑skilled work on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and grounds maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and hardware.
• Perform plumbing installations, repairs, and renovations.
• Assist with HVAC, carpentry, and other renovation projects.
• Maintain college equipment, vehicles, and fire alarm, sprinkler, and security systems.
• Carry out grounds work, including landscaping, herbicide/pesticide application, and parking lot upkeep.
• Use and maintain a variety of hand and power tools, record logs, and coordinate with custodial staff.
• Respond to emergency repair requests.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience in a skilled trade or building maintenance (three years preferred).
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work independently in various environmental conditions.
• Ability to lift 15 lb+ and climb ladders.
