Founding Full Stack Engineer (FinTech & EdTech)

About the role

EQL Tech is recruiting a founding Full Stack Lead for a venture-backed startup building the financial infrastructure for the future of education. The company is developing the rails that let families access State education funds (ESAs), opening up a $900B US public education budget. The team includes engineers and specialists from companies such as Stripe, SpaceX and Goldman Sachs. The role owns the parent-facing mobile and web experiences from inception to launch.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the reimbursements product across mobile (receipt capture, claims) and web (statementing)
• Build for clarity and trust so families are never confused about eligibility or fund status
• Link the UI tightly with backend and operations workflows to create a reliable payments system with clean audit trails
• Instrument funnels and confusion hotspots to turn user behaviour data into product improvements
• Set the architecture, code quality and release processes for the app layer

Required profile

• Willingness to relocate to San Francisco, CA or Phoenix, AZ and work in person with the team
• History of shipping apps constantly to production, including personal side projects
• Pride in refining design and architecture to improve the user experience
• Strong sense of intuitive AI and attention to the psychology of features
• Willingness to leave the developer environment to visit families and work with government agencies
• High standards and a deep commitment to the quality of work

What we offer
